Louise Petersiel died on April 30.

Born April 14, 1947 in Boston, Louise spent her childhood in Winthrop before moving to Swampscott where she resided for over 40 years, later “retiring“ in Marblehead.

Louise loved growing up in Winthrop with her besties by her side. They would spend countless hours walking the beach, singing, laughing and maybe even getting into a little trouble.

In 1963 an awkward tall guy crashed her sweet 16 party, and a love story began. Paul and Louise married six years later and were married for 44 years until his death in 2013.

Throughout their years together they truly enjoyed life: traveling, spending time with dear friends, throwing the bestest parties ever and exploring restaurants near and far. Of all her joys, her greatest was the wonderful life she and Paul created with their girls Jenna and Erica (and of course Coco).

In 1999 after what could only be described as a moment of madness, they opened Red Rock Bistro in Swampscott where they spent countless hours making sure the community had a place to call home.

Ever fashionable and ethereally stunning, Louise had the greatest style. She could even make a paper bag look attractive. She beautifully decorated her own home and found so much joy when her friends would let her decorate theirs as well.

She was a lover of good food, Ella Fitzgerald, gin and tonics, doggies and she could really make you laugh pretending to be a good singer.

Louise cherished her summers on Martha’s Vineyard, spending her days digging in the soil, soaking up the sun, and she absolutely loved her “summer job” at the Chilmark General Store.

She will be dearly missed by her two adoring helicopter daughters Jenna Petersiel of Aquinnah and Erica Petersiel of Swampscott, her grand-dog Libby and her unbelievable group of lifelong friends, including her dearest “sister” Janice Goransson.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to her incredible medical team at MGH for their amazing care and even better friendship. Dr. P, Sara, Dr. Keane, Pamela and everyone else who helped along the way, we could not have done this without you.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 5, at 10 a.m. at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin street, Salem, MA 01970.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MGH Cancer Center or the charity of your choice.
